The College of the Canyons Art Gallery is proud to present Beyond the Image, a collaboration with Black Maria Gallery featuring the work of approximately 15 artist/illustrators. Curated by COC Art Faculty and professional illustrator, Mercedes McDonald, this exhibition features a diverse sampling of some of the best young artists working today.

“This is work that engages you, causes you to stop and investigate. You will no doubt see work that you like as well as work that disturbs you, styles you relate to and others that you don’t, but all the work will be provocative” says Larry Hurst, gallery director.

“Some of the freshest work emerging from the Southern California art world, the styles and mediums of the work on display vary widely, creating a wonderful visual excitement. Many of the artists publish their work commercially and manufacture toys based on their art. This is a genre of art that is both thought-provoking and approachable” says Mercedes McDonald.
